The challenges of writing Mars Hostages (Part 1)

Writing Mars Hostages was a challenge for me, although I have been following the space Program for many years, I have to put in order all pieces and to evaluate the best way to go to safely take the first humans to Mars within the next ten to fifteen years, and be coherent because I wanted to do it as realistic as possible. I began on January 2017.

I have to consider many aspects, not only technological but human factors for the crew, and political factors for the coordination of it; this is why I created an international Space Exploration Agency, to guarantee the continuity of the space projects without the dependency of specific governments, although the commitment of each country is a must.

Considering the creation of the WSEO or World Space Exploration Organization as I named it, must have programs for the benefit of the whole Planet besides the Human Exploration of Mars, so I identified these fields :

Earth Observation: to measure climate change, temperatures in oceans and on land, CO2 emissions and ocean pollution, etc.

Asteroid Defense System: to detect and divert any Asteroid that represents a threat to Earth and could cause great damage.

Space Debris Retrieval: To remove all the debris that is orbiting Earth to guarantee a safe Space Exploration.

Next time I will write about the WSEO.
